To translate the Mortlach legacy into an exquisite physical form, forceMAJEURE was asked to play the roles of historian, designer, and storyteller. Mortlach required primary and secondary packaging befitting its rigorous technique, bold flavor, and premium quality.
Taking influence from the Golden Age of Victorian Engineering, Mortlach’s design references some of Scotland’s impressive engineering feats. The bottle designs are reminiscent of trestle bridges, with geometric bases and tapering silhouettes that give the impression of looking upward. Mortlach’s monumental structure is echoed in the secondary packaging, with each layout using girder-like silhouettes to evoke the built world and the letter “M.” The brand’s color palette pulls from Speyside’s natural and manmade landscape and increases in industrial elegance as the expressions tier up in value.
