Honest Thief
Rewriting the Rules of Paso Robles

Rooted in the outlaw legends of 1850s California, Honest Thief is a brand born to disrupt. Commissioned by Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits, we set out to create a wine that captures the untamed soul of Paso Robles. We forged a narrative where virtue meets villainy and artistry defines authenticity.

We built the brand from the ground up. Inspired by the outlaw legend of Joaquin Murrieta, Honest Thief embraces a raw, defiant character. Its design is quietly defiant, with a label that speaks to the wine’s complex personality. A deep red wine enriched with dark fruit, brown spice and a dusting of toasted tobacco offers a taste that is unmistakably Paso.

Every element was designed with precision. Beyond the packaging, we crafted a full brand identity system and developed off-pack iconography to support the visual world of the brand. The back label tells thestory in the winemaker’s own words, stripping away convention in favor of honest expression. Photography by Garrett Naccarato adds the final touch: moody, precise and richly atmospheric, capturing the essence of this modern-day maverick.

Honest Thief is not a wine for the many. It is a statement for the few who refuse to follow the rules and who understand that true art is found in breaking the mold.
