Since 2009, Johnnie Walker has been a proud sponsor of the New York Yankees. The partnership was built over years of presence in the stadium and high-profile out-of-home media around Yankee territory. In 2018, the Johnnie Walker team commissioned us to celebrate this connection through the creation of a new limited edition packaging.
Our mission was to bring the association to life for Black Label and its secondary packaging, transforming it into a commemorative piece any Yankees fan or Johnnie Walker drinker would want to own, gift, or display. The goal was to reflect both brands' strength and history in a design that felt bold, refined, and worthy of two legends.
Johnnie Walker and the New York Yankees are both cultural symbols with rich heritage and global influence. This project was about finding the right visual balance between these two worlds.
Inspired by the iconic pinstripes of the Yankees jersey, we reinterpreted this graphic language into the world of Johnnie Walker Black. Integrated subtly into the bottle label, the pattern brings a contemporary, sporty touch to the design, before being fully unleashed on the secondary box.
Together, bottle and gift box deliver a unified expression of performance, legacy, and modernity.
The limited edition launched during the 2017 season and helped reinforce the brand’s presence at key retail moments. Most importantly, it turned an ongoing partnership into a physical expression of shared values.
