To mark a new creative chapter for Rémy Martin XO, the House partnered with internationally renowned artist Anish Kapoor for a one-of-a-kind collaboration. Drawing from a shared pursuit of excellence and timeless expression, the partnership bridges the worlds of cognac craftsmanship and contemporary art.
To bring this encounter of masters to life, forceMajeure was commissioned to create a unique new decanter and packaging that could bring together the essence of Rémy Martin XO and the artistic language of Anish Kapoor. The design needed to feel both iconic and innovative, artistic and precise. Our challenge was to imagine and shape a form that could hold the richness of the liquid while also expressing the iconicity of Kapoor’s work.
Solution
The foundation of our creative direction was the convergence of two icons: the opulent, solar shape of the Rémy Martin XO decanter and the pure, symmetrical language of Anish Kapoor’s work. The XO bottle, already emblematic of radiance and heritage, became the starting point for a new artistic expression where modern cognac and modern art meet.
With this vision, we designed a beautifully crafted decanter where one side transforms into the pure circularity of Kapoor’s signature concave form, blending seamlessly into the existing sculptural rays of the original XO bottle, still visible on the reverse. The result is a bold yet harmonious evolution of the classic decanter: one that captures light, reflects depth, and invites contemplation. An echo to Kapoor’s meditative approach to space and perception.
We also developed the bespoke partnership graphics and designed a secondary gift box that elevates the bottle into an object of rarity. Together, these elements form a tactile and immersive expression of dual mastery, where the radiance of Rémy Martin meets the reflective poetry of Kapoor’s universe.
The limited edition launched in April 2025 and immediately resonated within the worlds of design and art. The packaging now lives alongside an original Kapoor mirror sculpture created for the project and travelling internationally, offering a dual experience where the liquid, the form, and the reflection come together as one.
